What's your style? Do you use photoshop or alter your images?

I think photoshop can be an incredible tool in some aspects, but here we don't use photoshop at all and we don't alter an image to make it fabractied to what was actually in the image (ex. adding moutains, or things that were never there) or how the day looked. The only "altering" we do is a preset, smoothing skin, brightening eyes, removing blemishes and removing potential objects if needed. We strive to have our photos be a real, authentic story of your day and how it looked and everything in-between.
We also use natural light for majority of our photos on occasion or when the lighting is dark we incorporate a flash on our cameras, but other than that we love the natural lighting and working with what we are given to work with at each session & wedding.
Our Style
Our style is a seamless blend and a good balance between posed imagery and unposed imagery. We have found that it is the sweet spot to do a little bit of both alwhile still posing you from head to toe.
I've heard so many stories from clients about photographers who just expected them to know what to do. I've learned not everybody is photogenic and thats okay! that is part of our job to pose you from head to toe.
Another thing I've heard is "we had to cancel our photographer because there was no communication" this boggles my mind.
As a photographer, I try to put myself in my clients shoes as much as possible. I know if I was planning something so special and such a big day communication is CRUCIAL. I get photographers need a work/life balance and they should, but there is a difference between work/life balance and just having poor communication and taking weeks to get back to a bride or client.
I also want to note that things can be busy and this ties into communication when editing for your wedding clients or even for a session. If you're going to be late on deliever a gallery COMMUNICATE. Things happen and when you communicate 9/10 people are very understanding because they respect the fact you told them and are keeping them up to date. Photographers you have to remember making money is wonderful and all, but don't forget why you're in this niche. It is not your clients fault because you chose to take on too many weddings. They shouldn't have to suffer because you overbooked yourself and now the client experience all around isn't what they paid for. Know your limit and know what you can handle. Things happen, but for some this is a known pattern.
I always ALWAYS! want my clients to feel at ease and excited for their session or wedding! I want to be the least stressful part of the whole experience. Communication is huge on both ends. Let your photographer know what you want and what you don't want. Don't be afraid to speak up and tell them "I love this pose but can we redo it" Trust me your photographer wants you to love the photos and be happy with them more than compliments that aren't genuine.
When booking with me whether it be a session or for your big day I want to assure you that the communication will be there and with in a reasonable amount of time, you'll have fun, you won't have to worry about what to do with your hands or how to pose in front of the camera, you'll have an easy going flexible photographer who loves her job and wants to deliever special, curated imagery to you.
Brides and clients for all sessions take the time to see if the photographer is a good fit for your because you're paying for the work, the time, the experience and you want somebody whos going to be easy to work with, whos good with communicating, and caters to their brides/clients. Ask your photographer questions....even the hard ones ex. ("if you cancel on us for some reason whats the replacement look like how does this work?")
It not only gives you peace of mind to ask these questions, but also to make sure that this is a photographer you'd want to work with.
Hopefully this helped give some insight on how we edit our photos and our style alog with a little advice to both brides/clients and photographers.
