Wedding planning is no joke. Listen, I give all you brides props who are planning this beautiful day yourselves or even mostly yourselves! It can be overwhelming.

I chose to elope, and even then, I soon realized that there were still details I had never even thought about that needed planning. That was a bit overwhelming, so I can't imagine organizing an entire wedding. However, as a photographer in the wedding industry, I have seen where things can easily go wrong. Nothing is perfect, and don’t forget why you’re planning this in the first place.

Embrace the Journey

Things always work out the way they’re supposed to, so this is my reminder to you: loosen up. Enjoy yourself and the process along with the day. It will go by so fast! Let go and go with the flow. Perfection is impossible, so don’t even put that expectation on yourself.

My Advice to You <3
  • If you have the choice, it is really beneficial to put someone who can manage the smaller details. This way, it reduces planning and lessens the pressure on you.

  • Go with the flow. Don't expect perfection. Embrace the unexpected and remember why you're there.

  • Make it your own. Don’t feel obligated to follow tradition if it doesn't align with your personal style or preferences.

  • Enjoy the day. Try your best not to let the details overwhelm you. Focus on being around your love and your loved ones. Don’t forget the reason for this whole day!

Prioritizing Quality Time

Make time to be with your husband as much as possible during the wedding. Greet your tables together and just enjoy each other's company with family and friends. This is your day, and it should be filled with joy and love.

The Importance of Communication

Another essential aspect of wedding planning is communication. Discuss your vision with your partner. Set aside time to talk about your expectations, your desires, and any concerns that might arise. This open dialogue fosters a strong partnership and reduces misunderstandings later on.

Delegating Responsibilities

Don’t hesitate to delegate responsibilities. Enlist friends and family members who are excited to help. By assigning tasks, you can alleviate some of your burdens. Plus, involving loved ones can make them feel included and valued in your special day.

Budgeting for Success

One of the most challenging facets of wedding planning is budgeting. Start by determining your overall budget, then allocate funds for each category. These may include venue, catering, attire, and photography. Being organized in your financial planning will ensure you stay on track while avoiding unexpected expenses.

Creating a Timeline

A wedding timeline is incredibly useful. Outline significant milestones leading up to the big day. This should include deadlines for booking vendors, sending out invitations, and securing your dress fittings. A well-structured timeline can help alleviate stress as the wedding date approaches.

Hiring Professionals

Consider hiring professionals to handle certain aspects of your wedding. A good wedding planner can take a lot of pressure off you. They have experience navigating potential pitfalls and organizing events, leaving you more time to enjoy planning.

Capture the Moment

As a photographer, I cannot emphasize enough how vital it is to capture these moments. Allocate your budget wisely in this area. Find a photographer whose style resonates with you. You want to ensure that every smile, tear, and cherished moment is beautifully documented.

Remember, your wedding day is about celebrating your love. Enjoying the day with your loved ones is paramount. So take a deep breath and remember: YOU GOT THIS!
